FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
BACK

How does it work?
The transfers are made up of individual crystal and metal elements,

Each element is backed with heat sensitive glue that is activated by applying heat with a domestic iron or similar device.

The Transfer is made up of 2 pieces of film

A clear carrying film that is lightly sticky and holds the elements in place while you align them

And white protective backing.

Peel the white backing from the transfer.

Place the transfer where desired.

Please align carefully because once you have applied heat the transfers are permanent.

Apply heat for 20-25 seconds with an iron set between wool and cotton 150-170 degrees centigrade the new glue needs less heat.

DO NOT USE STEAM

When you have aligned the transfer on the tee shirts, blouses and thin or delicate fabrics,

Turn the garment inside out and place on an ironing board.

If you can apply heat to the back of the transfer it is so much better because this will help protect your garment,

It is not always possible on garments like jeans pocket, collars, edges of jackets and the seams of trousers because of the multi layers of fabric.

So you can apply heat directly

But more care should be taken i.e.:-

Use a thin cloth an old hankie!

Or piece of cotton sheeting

Or a purpose made Teflon sheet or (Teflon iron shoe)( this needs a link button to product)

NOT A TEA TOWEL

It is to thick and does not allow enough direct heat and This can lead to the elements not adhering first time.

Always remember that the larger crystals take a little more time so please be patient.

The most important point to remember is

ALWAYS LET THE TRANSFER COOL

Because trying to remove the

film before cooling will loosen the elements from the fabric and lead to them coming off in the wash.

There is one other point for those of you that are using a steam iron.

You may find that one or two of the elements have not adhered first time

This is usually because they have been directly under the steam vent of the iron

These elements have not come into direct contact with the sole of the iron

The remedy is to move the iron across and reheat the area affected

With the larger designs it is always best to start in the middle and work out

To get a better release of the film from the finished garment.

Briefly rub the iron across the transfer to heat the film only the film will now release from the fabric more easily.

Washing instructions

If your garment can be washed follow the manufactures instruction.

There is only one other precaution that is to turn the garment inside out

You could also place the garment in a wash bag if you feel this would give you extra security

(In my personal experience it is only when the stones rub against the tub of the washing machine do they suffer any damage I have found that washing is not an issue)

Tumble Dry - No problem just keep the dryer on a medium to low setting.

For dry-cleaning use perclorethelen.
